Cumann na mBunscol – Girls’ Shield Final

Congratulations to our Girls’ Cumann na mBunscol team who defeated Gaelscoil, Cara Droma Rúisc in a very exciting final in Páirc Seán last week. It was a great match with both teams playing will skill and passion. The teams are also to be commended for their sportsmanlike behaviour throughout.

In the end, St. Patrick’s girls won by a point – we all held our breaths as we waited for the result to be confirmed. It was a deserved victory as the whole team had worked really hard and every single player kept her concentration from start to finish. Well done girls – we’re so proud of you.

Thank you so much to Ms. McTigue, Ms. Kelly and Mrs. Flood who worked with this team for the last few months. As well as teaching them the skills they needed, they gave them a great sense of what it is to be part of a team and plenty of self-belief.

Thanks also to all those who came to support them team – it was really important to the team, especially in such a close match.

Congratulations also to the Boys’ team – they won the Fair Play award in their division which is voted for by the other teams. This award will be presented on Tuesday evening at 4:30 in Lough Allen Hotel.
