Happy New Year 2018

Happy New Year and welcome back to school. I hope that everyone enjoyed Christmas and had the opportunity to relax after the busy end of term in December.

We had some lovely days here in the school. We enjoyed the Christmas plays performed by Junior Infants, Senior Infants, Second Class and Sixth Class. Each play in it’s own way helped us to get that special Christmas feeling. We enjoyed the laughter and the music and the energy that each group brought to the stage. I want to thank the staff who give so freely of their time and effort  to make all of this possible. Thank you also to parents and familaes for supporting us so well. We had great crowds at each performance and collected over €1000 as a result – as well as almost €500 for the raffle. We will use this money to help to pay for our trip to see the Wizard of Oz.

Speaking of The Wizard, I would like to congratulate all those involved in such a wonderful production. It was great to see so many past pupils taking part – lots of Munchkins!

The Carol Service was another special event in the days before Christmas, with Fifth Class and First Class leading us in prayer and song and story. Through your generosity we were able to donate over €1000 to charity  – divided between our local Vincent dePaul society and Fr. Kevin’s homeless charity

I have to remember to thank the choir along with Ms. Kehoe and Mrs. Grier. The children sang at the Carol Service and again on Christmas morning – despite having been up very early that morning to see what Santa had brought! We were joined by our friends, Charlie and Natascha, on both occasions, and we really appreciate that also.

So, now that we are settled back into school, we’ve already started to think about the next school year. We are opening our enrolment for September 2018. Enrolment forms can be downloaded from the website –  make sure you get the most current one – or are available in the office. We have also left them in Bo Peep and Little Wonders.

Just before Christmas, we received the welcome news that we will get funding to build a two-classroom Autism Unit with attendant facilities. This will be a great and much-needed addition to our school. It will take some time in planning but it’s great to know that it IS going to happen.

Best wishes again for a happy 2018.

Athbhliain faoi shean agus faoi mhaise dhaoibh go léir.
