First Communion 2018

We had a lovely celebration of First Communion this weekend. Congratulations to all the boys and girls who received their First Communion and who participated so beautifully in the ceremony. They were a credit to their parents and to their teacher, Ms. Kelly.

Thanks to all the other pupils in the school who had an active part in the day – the servers and the choir and to you, their parents, for having them there.

Thanks to the teachers who helped on the day – Ms. Kelly of course – but also Mrs. McLoughlin. I want to make a quick mention of Caroline, in our office, who is a behind the scenes presence in every school event.

I was greatly supported in the choir – as I always am – by Ms. Kehoe and Mrs Grier. Can I also give a special word of thanks to Aoife, Grace and Leah who were our instrumentalists on the day, and to Natascha (Dietz) and Eibhlín (O’Connell) who joined them on Sunday.

Sr. Helen and Fr. Frankie have supported this class all through the year as they prepared for First Communion, and that support was never more in evidence than on Saturday.

Of course, Sunday was another special day. Thanks to the parents of Third Class, last year’s Communion class, for providing the party in Áras Pádraig and to our Parents’ Association committee for organising it.

We’re now looking forward to Confirmation on May 25th – I can only hope that the sun shines that day as well.
