Visit of Minister McHugh

We were delighted to welcome Minister McHugh to our school yesterday accompanied by many other local politicians. Minister McHugh  walked around the whole school and was very interested in our new build. He visited the classrooms and spoke with many of the children. Then he joined us in the hall for assembly. We told him about our school and particularly about the Wellbeing programme we are using in the school. We explained about out tree where, each month, at assembly, we talk about a positive emotion and hang a ‘positive apple’. Yesterday the minister, accompanied by three pupils hung a ‘pride apple’ on the tree. We reminded him of how proud we are of our school. The minister spoke to us all about his hopes for Drumshanbo. He said that he would like to give every child the possibility of living and working in their own locality if this is something they would like to do. We finished a very joyful occasion with a song from the whole school – pupils and teachers. It was a lovely day and one that we will remember for a long time.
